A handcrafted collectible pendant-medallion embodying a character by Pavel Pepperstein — the oyster from The Walrus and the Carpenter by Lewis Carroll
Illustration by Pavel Pepperstein from the book "Alice in the Looking-Glass" to the poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter", V-A-C Press. 2024
Lewis Carroll
From “The Walrus and the Carpenter”,
Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, 1871
“But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat—
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn’t any feet.”
Since 2020, Pavel Pepperstein — a leading figure of Moscow Romantic Conceptualism and the creator of multiple artistic universes — has been developing the universe of Carroll’s Alice.

This has resulted in new Russian editions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass with his illustrations, published by V-A-С Press, as well as the 2024 solo exhibition Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass at Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow.
The edition is limited to 30 pieces.

Each oyster is handcrafted from 925 sterling silver with a protective palladium coating, measures 40 x 18.5 x 10.7 mm and weighs 13 grams.

The integrated bail is designed to fit a chain clasp up to 2 mm.

The bespoke case contains the artist’s autograph and a personal account by Pavel Pepperstein reflecting on the work.
This collectible pendant-medallion by Pavel Pepperstein takes the form of an oyster in shoes, within which is hidden another iconic figure from the artist’s universe — Kolobok.

The piece requires delicate handling

Silver is a noble yet soft metal, sensitive to careless use. Store and transport the pendant only in its original case.

Open and close the oyster gently, using both hands, to preserve the precision of the fine silver hinge. Avoid polishing
